Chappell Roan Under Fire: Homeland Security Reacts to 'F—k ICE' Rose Bowl Remark

Pop star Chappell Roan recently sparked controversy during her concert in Los Angeles, drawing criticism from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after making a strong political statement.
During her performance at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Friday, October 11, the 27-year-old artist paused her hit-filled set to share her deep appreciation for her adopted city. Roan, who moved to Los Angeles nine years ago from Missouri and experienced initial struggles, reflected on how the community came together to assist during recent wildfires in Altadena and the Palisades. She emphasized her gratitude, stating, “I’m so lucky to be able to live here and to play here, and the city has taken care of me, and it’s my duty to take care of it back.”
However, her remarks took a political turn as she concluded her statement with a pointed expletive directed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), proclaiming, “F—k ICE forever.” She repeated the phrase, encouraging the audience to chant along with her.
The Department of Homeland Security was quick to respond to Roan's comments. Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary for public affairs, issued a statement to TMZ, saying, “‘Pink Pony Club’ is good. Pedophiles are bad. That’s who we’re getting off of our streets. Get a grip.”
Roan’s controversial remarks come amidst a particularly sensitive period for immigrant communities across the United States. These communities have been increasingly subjected to aggressive ICE operations, with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker describing some as “military-style” raids. Furthermore, President Donald Trump has made mass deportations a central and significant part of his proposed agenda for a potential second term, intensifying the national debate surrounding immigration enforcement.
