Box Office Sensation: ‘One Battle After Another’ Breaks $200 Million and Dominates Global Charts

Lionsgate's Now You See Me: Now You Don't claimed the top spot on global box office charts, earning $75.5 million worldwide. The film also led domestically, with an international gross of $54.2 million across 64 territories. Released nearly a decade after the previous installment, this third entry resonated strongly with audiences in key markets such as China, South Korea ($3.9 million), France ($3.5 million), and the U.K. ($3.2 million). Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the movie reunited franchise stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco as Robin Hood-like illusionists, proving its commercial appeal despite a $90 million production budget.
In other box office news, Sony's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle had a stellar opening in China, debuting with $52.4 million. This performance pushed the film to the fifth highest-grossing movie of 2025, having accumulated nearly $730 million globally, further cementing the anime film franchise as a worldwide phenomenon.
Conversely, Paramount's The Running Man, an R-rated adaptation of Stephen King’s dystopian novel, floundered at the global box office. After a weak $17 million domestic launch, it earned only $11.2 million internationally across 58 markets, falling short of its $110 million budget. Directed by Edgar Wright, known for Baby Driver and Shaun of the Dead, and starring Glen Powell, the film struggled even in strong territories such as the U.K. ($3.3 million), Germany ($1.1 million), and Australia ($1 million), highlighting a significant disappointment for the studio.
Warner Bros.' One Battle After Another overcame a challenging rollout to surpass the $200 million global box office mark. Initially reported at $196 million, the film added $1.4 million internationally to reach this milestone. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the epic adventure features a star-studded cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, and Chase Infiniti. The movie garnered critical acclaim for its spectacular action sequences, intricate storytelling, and compelling performances, solidifying its status as a blockbuster hit of the year.
