When asked what makes "Girls' Hostel" stand out, Essien confidently stated, "Everything." She described it as both "a nod to the past and a mirror to the present," emphasizing that while some experiences are drawn from real life, others are imagined. She believes the show will resonate deeply with many Nigerians, touching upon the stage where "the oppressed can become the oppressor" and where young people are desperately seeking validation and recognition.

Essien also reflected on the timing of the show's creation, attributing its release to "God's timing." She revealed that she had initially planned to produce the series in 2023 but faced setbacks. Her tenacious spirit and unwavering belief in the project, coupled with persistent prayer and hard work, ultimately brought "Girls' Hostel" to fruition.

Regarding the casting process, Bolu Essien highlighted her intimate understanding of the characters. Having spent extensive time with the series during its writing phase, she knew their personalities, behaviors, speech patterns, motives, and even their detailed background stories. Essien is a stickler for details and authenticity. Despite not having "the deepest pockets," she refused to compromise on creating a believable world. She shared how one of the hostels was filmed inside a hall, which was completely transformed with bunk beds, lockers, boxes, and pillows to create the feel of a real school environment. All uniforms, bedsheets, and hostel wear were custom-made, and even school bags and notebooks were purchased to enhance the world's believability, showcasing the rigorous effort put into the project. She specifically gave a shout-out to her Art Director, Sarah of SB Creatives, for her pivotal role in bringing this vision to life.
