Bengaluru's reality after heavy downpour: Farewell roads, hello rafts

A relentless six-hour spell of heavy rainfall on Sunday brought Bengaluru to a standstill, triggering widespread waterlogging across the city. The downpour caused major disruptions, particularly at junctions like Silk Board and Hebbal, leaving commuters stranded and infrastructure strained. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), meanwhile, has issued an alert for continued heavy rainfall in Bengaluru and surrounding areas in the coming days. Reports indicate that last night’s deluge was the most intense rainfall Bengaluru has seen so far this year. Visuals from several area in the city showed people wading through knee-deep water as the city’s drainage system failed to cope with the sudden downpour. Streets turned into streams, and several vehicles were seen partially submerged.
