Massapequa business damaged in morning fire - Newsday
An electrical issue may have been the cause of a building fire that damaged a Massapequa business Monday, fire officials said.
The fire at The Shower Door on Merrick Road was reported in 911 calls just after 9 a.m., bringing about 50 firefighters from Massapequa, Seaford, Wantagh and Amityville to the scene, said Nassau County Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro.
They brought the fire under control within an hour; the business was not open at the time, he said.
In an email, Uttaro said the building sustained moderate damage and there were no reported injuries.
Uttaro said the cause of the blaze hadn't been determined, but preliminary indications were that the fire was sparked by an "accidental electrical issue."
