Barbara Windsor's Widower Finds Love with EastEnders Co-Star Tanya Franks

Scott Mitchell, the widower of the iconic actress Barbara Windsor, has opened up about finding love again with Tanya Franks, who also stars in EastEnders. Barbara Windsor, known for her role as Peggy Mitchell on EastEnders and her memorable line 'get out of my pub,' passed away in 2020 at the age of 83 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014. Mitchell cared for her during the six years of her illness.

In an interview with The Mirror, Mitchell expressed his pride in Windsor's legacy, noting that she would be remembered not only for her roles in Carry On Camping and EastEnders but also for her work in raising awareness for dementia. He emphasized the importance of living life to the fullest and confirmed his relationship with Tanya Franks, who plays Rainie Cross in EastEnders.

Mitchell addressed potential criticism, explaining that he doesn't feel guilty because Windsor had given him her blessing. He highlighted that the grieving process began years before her death due to her prolonged illness. He described Franks as a private and wonderful lady, distinct from Windsor, who was more open about her life. Franks is currently performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon in Much Ado About Nothing.

Mitchell emphasized that he does not compare the two women and that he loves them both for their unique qualities. He stated that he would not be with anyone who wasn't truly lovely.
