Aregbesola Predicts Major Political Shift: ADC to Dethrone APC in 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has positioned itself as the only credible alternative political party in Nigeria, looking ahead to the 2027 general elections. This assertion was prominently made during the official unveiling of the party’s new secretariat in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state, an event that gathered various political figures and party supporters.
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the former Osun state governor and national secretary of the ADC, was a key speaker at the event. He vocalized strong criticism against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the current administration had failed to meet the expectations of the populace through what he termed “misrule.” Aregbesola highlighted severe issues such as widespread hunger, the reduction of governance to personal enrichment, and pervasive political intimidation, attributing the suffering of Nigerians to the APC's leadership failures. He characterized the ADC as a “party of conscience and service,” expressing confidence that the prevailing economic difficulties would galvanize massive support for the party in the forthcoming polls.
Adding to the discourse, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, a former governor of Kwara state, emphasized that the emergence of the ADC signaled the dawn of a new political awakening within the state. Ahmed articulated the ADC’s ambition to establish a new political order in Kwara that genuinely embodies the collective will of its people. He also drew attention to the suffering of farmers due to escalating insecurity, calling upon the government to restore confidence in the affected communities so that agricultural activities could safely resume.
Further reinforcing the party's stance, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary and former Minister of Youth and Sports, declared the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as “dead and buried.” Abdullahi asserted that the ADC is now the sole viable opposition force, both in Kwara and across Nigeria. He expressed astonishment at the rapid public acceptance of the party, noting that its Kwara secretariat had been unveiled just three months prior. Abdullahi reframed the political question for Kwarans: it is no longer about their desire for the APC, but about whether the ADC can convincingly present itself as the true alternative for 2027, a task he vowed the party would fulfill. He also voiced deep concern over the rising insecurity throughout the state, particularly in farming communities, and urged immediate governmental action, reiterating the ADC's commitment to building a party that genuinely serves the interests of its citizens.
The event, attended by a diverse group of ADC supporters, youth groups, and political personalities, was perceived as a clear indication that the ADC is prepared and determined to reshape Kwara’s political landscape in preparation for the 2027 general elections, offering a distinct vision for governance and public service.
