Angola Moves Up Two Places in FIFA Rankings | Africa Newswire
Luanda: The Angolan National Football Team has moved up two places in the FIFA World Cup rankings, according to the latest updated rankings, released on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
According to Angola Press News Agency, after the last ‘window of the FIFA Date’, the Angolan main team, also nicknamed “Palancas Negras,” which until then ranked 87th overall, now occupies 85th place, with 1,279.55 points, becoming the 18th-ranked team in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) zone.
Morocco remains the best African team, ranking 12th overall, followed by Senegal (18th), Egypt (34th), Algeria (36th), Nigeria (44th), Côte d’Ivoire (45th), Tunisia (47th), Cameroon (51st), Mali (54th), and South Africa (56th).
Among Portuguese-speaking African countries, Cabo Verde remains at the top, ranking 73rd overall, followed by Angola (85th), Equatorial Guinea (93rd), Mozambique (99th), Guinea-Bissau (131st), and So Tomé and Príncipe (193rd).
