Alanis Morissette has officially unveiled her long-awaited holiday album, titled "Good Weather for Immaculate Conception," slated for release on November 6. The announcement, made on Friday, October 9, was accompanied by the debut of its lead single, “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem,” featuring the talents of Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin.
This upcoming project marks Morissette's first-ever full-length holiday album, a significant milestone after she has consistently released festive singles each Christmastime over the years. The album boasts a collection of 14 tracks, including two original compositions titled “Christmas on the Dancefloor” and “To An Empath at Christmas Time.”
Morissette has also enlisted a diverse array of collaborators for the album. Joy Oladokun joins her for a duet on a cover of “Silent Night,” while Amythyst Kiah lends her voice to “Momma Mary.” Notably, Trans Voices, the United Kingdom’s pioneering professional vocal ensemble comprised of trans and nonbinary singers, makes an appearance on “O Tannenbaum.” Other featured artists include Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin on the lead single, and Martin Short contributing to “Merry Christmas.”
Speaking about the album in September on Alex Cooper’s "Call Her Daddy" podcast, even before its formal announcement, Morissette described the creation process as "just so sweet" and a "labor of Christmas love." The album compiles several of her previously released seasonal covers, such as John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” from 2020, “Little Drummer Boy” from 2022, “Last Christmas” from 2023, and “O Holy Night” from 2024. This new holiday set arrives four years after her most recent LP, "The Storm Before the Calm."
The full tracklist for "Good Weather for Immaculate Conception" includes: “O Holy Night,” “To an Empath at Christmas Time,” “What Child Is This?,” “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” “Little Drummer Boy,” “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” (feat.
