ADC coalition full of selfish, corrupt politicians - Sowore
Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has dismissed the possibility of working with politicians in the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, citing concerns over the integrity and track records of some members.
Speaking on The Morning Brief, a Channels Television programme on Wednesday, Sowore said he found it difficult to align with individuals in the ADC coalition, whom he described as lacking in character and public service credibility.
“There are just too many people in the coalition that you are mentioning that I can’t even sit across the table from, I mean, personally, without being tempted to act out of my own personal character,” Sowore said. “So that’s the issue.”
He accused some members of the coalition of having been complicit in what he called acts of betrayal against the Nigerian people.
“I cannot ignore those things. I can’t ignore so many of the people in coalition who have done Nigerians dirty; who have done what is regarded as evil,” he stated. “People who we know have no conscience, they have no character, they have no pedigree.”
Sowore insisted that no political arrangement or conditional agreement could redeem individuals who, in his view, had consistently acted against the public interest.
“These are typically people whose way of life is being evil, being bad, being corrupt, shortchanging the public, being selfish,” he said. “There is no condition that is available for them.”
He clarified that the only condition under which he would consider political collaboration is if it involved “people who are willing and ready to help Nigerians and save the country” from the current ruling party and others seeking to return to power through coalitions.
