Adani's Victorious Pilgrimage: Prayers Follow SEBI's Hindenburg Dismissal!

Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, accompanied by his wife Priti Adani, visited a Jain temple in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Saturday, September 20, 2025. This visit occurred a day after India's capital markets regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), dismissed the serious charges leveled against the conglomerate by Hindenburg Research.

According to a close aide, Adani chose to express gratitude rather than engage in overt celebration, as the 'Hindenburg storm' finally subsided after months of intense speculation surrounding Sebi's impending judgment. For the Adani family, this resolution was more than just regulatory relief; it symbolized a profound triumph of good over evil and a quiet victory born of grit, faith, and resilience. During their visit, Adani and his wife offered a silent prayer of thanks to God, lighting a single diya and seeking the blessings of the Almighty.

Mint had previously reported that Sebi, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, officially cleared the Adani Group and its top executives, including Gautam Adani, his brother Rajesh Adani, and Group chief financial officer (CFO) Jugeshinder Singh, of allegations concerning the bypassing of related-party transaction rules, which were initially brought forth by US-based short seller Hindenburg Research.

Following Sebi's order, Gautam Adani took to social media platform X to reiterate his firm stance. He emphasized that the allegations by Hindenburg Research were 'baseless' and reaffirmed the Adani Group's unwavering commitment to transparency and integrity. “After an exhaustive investigation, SEBI has reaffirmed what we have always maintained, that the Hindenburg claims were baseless. Transparency and integrity have always defined the Adani Group,” Adani stated in his post.

Adani also expressed deep empathy for the investors who incurred financial losses during the tumultuous Adani-Hindenburg Saga, which significantly impacted the Indian stock market since the initial report's release in January 2023. He called upon those responsible for spreading false narratives to apologize to the nation. Adani concluded his statement by affirming the Group's steadfast commitment to India’s institutions, its people, and its ongoing journey of nation-building.

Regarding Sebi’s specific findings, Mint reported that while the Adani Group companies did route funds through three entities – Adicorp Enterprises Pvt. Ltd, Milestone Tradelinks Pvt. Ltd, and Rehvar Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd – as alleged by Hindenburg, these transactions were not deemed illegal at the time they were executed. Sebi’s whole-time member, Kamlesh Varshney, disposed of the proceedings against all noticees in two separate orders released concurrently. The market regulator determined that the group could not be penalized based on a 2021 amendment, as the questioned transactions predated its enactment.
