Abuja Police Crackdown: Four Nabbed in Brazen One-Chance Robbery, Kidnapping Ring

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully arrested four suspects linked to a one-chance robbery and attempted kidnapping incident, rescuing two victims in a targeted operation. This significant development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday, October 12, 2025, by the FCT command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
The operation was initiated following a distress report received at the Life Camp Police Station on October 8, 2025, at approximately 10:09 p.m. A victim alleged being abducted by criminals who subsequently demanded a ransom of ₦1,000,000 for her release. Upon receiving this critical information, police operatives from the Life Camp Division immediately mobilized, leveraging digital and tactical intelligence to track the perpetrators.
The intensive investigation led to the apprehension of the suspects on October 9, 2025, around 4:30 a.m. at Dape Village, after a near-deadly confrontation with the police. During the rescue mission, two victims were successfully freed. Tragically, one of the rescued individuals had sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by the suspects and was promptly rushed to Gwarinpa General Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Solomon Tanko, Samuel Audu, Chigozie Joseph, and Emmanuel Chidiebere, all male. Further investigations have uncovered that these suspects have been engaged in a series of "one-chance" robberies, predominantly operating in the Bannex and Kado areas. Their method involved using a vehicle with tinted windows to deceive and abduct unsuspecting passengers. The suspects confessed to having picked up and robbed six victims, both men and women, prior to their arrest.
A range of incriminating exhibits were recovered from the suspects, which included 15 international passports, two sharp daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three biros. These items further corroborate their involvement in the reported criminal activities.
SP Adeh confirmed that the suspects will face legal proceedings and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded. Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, Ajao Adewale, lauded the swift and effective response of the Life Camp Divisional Police Officers. He took the opportunity to reiterate the importance of public trust in the police force, urging residents to report any incidents promptly to ensure quick intervention.
Additionally, the Commissioner advised members of the public to maintain vigilance and report any suspicious activities through the provided emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, and CRU FCT: 08107314192, emphasizing collective responsibility in maintaining peace and security within the Federal Capital Territory.
