The messages were directed at Institute of African Knowledge (INSTAK) chief executive officer Kwame Muzawazi and his family, following the tragic death of Malcolm Takudzwa Muzawazi, a close relative of Kwame, who was mauled by dogs.
Malcolm Muzawazi was attacked by four dogs kept at a car sale in Southerton, reportedly belonging to Gilbert Rumbwere, a friend of Killer T. Malcolm was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. Subsequently, Rumbwere and two other individuals were arrested and charged with culpable homicide in connection with the incident.
Following the arrests, Killer T sent a series of threatening and insulting messages to the Muzawazi family via WhatsApp audio voice notes on October 4, 2026, even daring them to have him arrested. On Sunday, the popular dancehall artist was taken into police custody over allegations of cyberbullying stemming from these messages.
In an official statement, Killer T issued an unreserved apology to Ambassador Kwame Tapiwa Muzawazi, his family, and all Zimbabweans for his conduct. He admitted to sending the disrespectful and insulting words, stating, "I was shocked and could not even believe I had said those bad, distasteful words and threats when I listened to the voice notes." He publicly retracted everything he said and sincerely apologized.
The musician further confessed to alcohol abuse, acknowledging that he was heavily intoxicated at the time of sending the messages. While admitting this, he stressed that it was not an excuse and that he should never have consumed alcohol to such levels. This is not Killer T's first encounter with the law, as he has previously been involved in clashes with residents of Aspindale.
Killer T reflected on the severe damage his actions have inflicted upon his reputation and brand, recognizing that he has set a poor example for young people who admire him. He expressed remorse for failing himself, his family, and everyone who believed in him. He humbly requested forgiveness from Ambassador Muzawazi and his family, emphasizing the sincerity of his apology.
As a demonstration of his genuine remorse and sincerity, Killer T announced his intention to plead guilty to the charges in court, stating that he would neither deny the allegations nor attempt to waste the court's time. He acknowledged that while he cannot reverse the pain and damage caused, he hopes for forgiveness, guided by the principle that "to err is human, but to forgive is divine."
