Yari's Strategic Appointment: Tinubu's 2027 Victory Roadmap Unveiled?
APC chieftain Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has lauded the appointment of Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari as Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. Shinkafi emphasized Yari's extensive political background and leadership skills as crucial for the party's success in the upcoming general elections. He urged full party support for the new campaign leadership.
Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly praised the appointment of Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari, Marafan Sokoto, as the Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. Shinkafi, in a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, expressed his conviction that Yari's leadership will significantly strengthen the party's strategic preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Shinkafi specifically commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting Yari for this crucial role, emphasizing Yari's extensive and diverse political experience. He highlighted Yari's past tenure as Governor of Zamfara State, his service as a member of the House of Representatives, and his current position as a Senator in the 10th Senate as invaluable assets for the campaign. This rich background, Shinkafi believes, will contribute immensely to the success of the campaign council.
Recalling Yari's long-standing involvement in Nigerian politics, Shinkafi noted his roles as State Secretary and later Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in Zamfara State. Yari was also instrumental in the re-election campaign of Senator Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura in 2003. Furthermore, he served as the National Treasurer of the ANPP and represented the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, before his gubernatorial term.
Shinkafi also pointed out Yari's significant contribution to the formation of the APC in Zamfara State during his governorship. He reiterated that Yari’s comprehensive experience across various levels of both party structure and government will be instrumental in effectively coordinating the campaign leading up to the 2027 elections. According to Shinkafi, as a distinguished Senator, Yari is a key stakeholder committed to consolidating the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Shinkafi confidently stated that with Senator Yari at the helm as Director-General, the Campaign Council will exhibit discipline, maintain a laser focus on its objectives, and ultimately secure a historic victory for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket and the APC. Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, who himself is an aspirant for the Zamfara North Senatorial District in 2027, also serves as a patron of the 2023 Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and is a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He concluded by urging all APC members to fully support the newly appointed campaign council in preparation for the 2027 elections.
