Worship Superstars Brandon Lake, Chris Tomlin, and Phil Wickham to Lead Charlie Kirk Memorial

A memorial service for the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Titled “Building A Legacy: Remembering Charlie Kirk,” the event is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time and will feature a lineup of prominent contemporary Christian Music artists leading worship, alongside other performers and notable speakers.
Among the Christian music artists confirmed to lead worship are Brandon Lake, Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Cody Carnes, and Kari Jobe Carnes. Additionally, the service will include performances by “God Bless the USA” singer Lee Greenwood and recording artist Steve Amerson. Remarks during the event will be delivered by Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk, President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.
Charlie Kirk, founder of the youth conservative organization Turning Point USA, was tragically shot and killed on September 10. The incident occurred during a question-and-answer session at a Turning Point USA “The American Comeback Tour” event held at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Following Kirk’s passing, several music artists have publicly shared their thoughts and condolences. Brandon Lake, in a social media video, expressed profound grief and admitted to immediate fear after the news, but ultimately felt God remove that fear, instilling renewed confidence to represent Christ and share the Gospel “no matter the cost.” Chris Tomlin posted on Instagram, conveying his heart and prayers to Erika Kirk and her two children, describing it as a “tragic moment for our nation” and appreciating Kirk’s “bold and unashamed in his faith,” adding, “THE FURTHER A SOCIETY DRIFTS FROM THE TRUTH. THE MORE IT WILL HATE THOSE THAT SPEAK IT.” Phil Wickham also took to Instagram, writing about his “grieved and heavy” heart, finding it difficult to process the “horrific evil, hatred and violence.” He offered prayers for God’s comfort and peace for Kirk’s family. Cody Carnes’ Instagram message urged, “Let us grieve the evil..and as we grieve, sow those seeds of love that snuff it out,” accompanying his words with Biblical scriptures, including Psalm 126:5 and John 1:5.
