Wicked Oaks Festival Reels From Deadly Storm, Issues Refunds After Injury Reports

The inaugural Wicked Oaks Festival held in Austin, Texas, on Saturday and Sunday, October 25–26, has released a comprehensive statement addressing the various challenges faced during its first edition. The statement clarified reports of attendee injuries and fatalities, and detailed information regarding refunds and reimbursements for festival-goers impacted by severe weather that necessitated temporary closures throughout the weekend.
Regarding attendee safety, festival organizers confirmed that there were no fatalities on festival grounds. However, seven attendees required medical transport to local hospitals—two on Saturday and five on Sunday. Austin-Travis County EMS supported these transports and stated they were unaware of any deaths or critical patients among those transported from the festival site. Tragically, the festival also acknowledged a fatal vehicle accident in the Bastrop area involving individuals traveling home after the event. The accident, caused by a truck running a red light, resulted in the death of Anthony Pike. The festival expressed profound sadness and extended condolences to Pike’s family, friends, and all affected, emphasizing the deep impact of such tragedies on the community.
Severe weather disruptions significantly impacted the festival experience across all three days. Forecasts of heavy rain and lightning on Friday delayed the opening of the festival's campgrounds, forcing some campers to seek alternate lodging. On Saturday, a severe storm struck around 10 p.m., prompting a site-wide evacuation and shutting down the festival for the evening. Continued rainstorms on Sunday rendered the festival’s parking lots unusable, affecting attendees who had paid for Enchanted Overnight Parking.
In response, Wicked Oaks organizers announced refund and reimbursement policies. The festival is offering a full refund to attendees holding Saturday single-day tickets and a 50% refund to two-day ticket holders. Campers forced to secure alternative lodging on Friday due to the delayed campground opening are eligible for hotel reimbursement by emailing an itemized receipt to [email protected] by Friday, October 31. Attendees who paid for Enchanted Overnight Parking will receive a 50% refund, while those who purchased festival shuttles on Saturday are eligible for a full refund.
All refunds will be issued to the original form of payment. Festival management highlighted that the process is complex due to many guests purchasing tickets through payment plans and multiple ticket providers. They assured attendees of their commitment to resolving these issues promptly and promised updates as soon as possible, recognizing the time, money, and planning invested in the festival weekend.
The festival featured a diverse lineup of performers, including renowned artists Martin Garrix, Eric Prydz, Bob Moses, Kaskade, Cloonee, and Nightmre, contributing to its multi-genre appeal and establishing Wicked Oaks as a promising addition to the festival scene.
