With Amazon acquiring the 007 franchise, the field of potential successors has broadened, encompassing both British and American actors, though a long-standing tradition favors a Brit for the role.

Several prominent actors who have been linked to the part have recently addressed the rumors, with some explicitly ruling themselves out. Taron Egerton, the 35-year-old "Rocketman" star, who has been frequently mentioned as a candidate and even backed by Roger Moore's son Geoffrey in 2019, has expressed his reservations. Other names frequently cited in speculation include Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, and Tom Holland. Aaron Taylor-Johnson (35) and Henry Cavill (42) are also often mentioned, though there is speculation that being over 30 might rule out some candidates. The newest favorite to emerge is relative unknown British actor James Nelson-Joyce, known for his roles in BBC drama "Little Boy Blue" and "This City is Ours." Daniel Craig, who made his final appearance as Bond in 2021, reflected on his tenure as an honor and an important part of his life, having starred in "Casino Royale," "Quantum of Solace," "Skyfall," and "Spectre" before his final film.
