Weight-Loss Drug Nightmare: Mounjaro Mum Forgets to Feed Kids, Horrifying Parents

A recent TikTok post has sparked a widespread debate after a mother, who has experienced significant weight loss while on the GLP-1 drug Mounjaro, made a startling admission: she sometimes "forgets to feed" her children. The revelation, shared over images of her with her two kids, stated, "Thanks. Sometimes I forget to feed them because I'm on Mounjaro." She elaborated in the caption, "Not easy remembering these little people are hungry."
Mounjaro, a weekly injectable GLP-1 drug, is primarily used for weight loss and works by suppressing appetite. This mechanism, while effective for weight management, appears to have extended to the mother's awareness of her children's hunger cues.
The TikTok video quickly garnered a fierce response, dividing viewers. Some commenters expressed shock and condemnation. One user wrote, "I can forget a lot but definitely not feeding them," while another admitted, "My son's nana is the same, I now pack him packed lunch when he goes." There was even a speculative comment suggesting potential "generational benefits" if the children learned to adjust their relationship with food, implying the mother might have previously overfed them.
However, a significant and somewhat surprising number of people found the mother's comments highly relatable and praised her honesty. Many shared similar experiences, admitting to the profound impact of Mounjaro on their hunger perception. "I can relate," one person stated. "I don’t feel hungry at all! So meal times are all over the place, I forget they feel hungry!" Another recounted, "My boy said 'mum I’m hungry now' - it was 6pm and he hadn’t had his tea." The sentiment of forgetting even pets due to reduced appetite was echoed, with one person confessing, "Nah I did the same to my cat the other day and found her trying to get into the bin." Numerous users confirmed they had resorted to setting reminder alarms to ensure they fed their children, highlighting the genuine struggle. The TikToker herself responded to these relatable comments, humorously noting, "Hahahah these poor MJ kiddies." She also hinted that her original post was intended to be light-hearted, responding to a comment that it was "not that deep."
