Ukraine War Escalates: Deadly Russian Strike in Kramatorsk as Kyiv Retaliates at Oil Port

Responding to ongoing aerial threats, Ukraine's air force announced that it successfully destroyed 90 out of 112 Russian drones launched overnight. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces also conducted offensive operations, with Russian authorities reporting a Ukrainian drone attack overnight on the Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region. This strike ignited a fire at the critical oil-export hub. While Kyiv has not immediately verified these claims, the incident marks at least the sixth attack on the port this year, believed to be part of a broader campaign targeting Russia's oil-export revenues. The Russian Defense Ministry, for its part, claimed on Friday to have intercepted 553 Ukrainian drones across 18 Russian regions, occupied Crimea, and the waters of the Azov and Black seas.
Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelenskyy addressed the persistent threat of aerial bombardment, stating on X that Russia deploys approximately 220 guided aerial bombs daily against frontline communities. He emphasized that the aggressor’s defense industry continues to produce and modify these weapons despite international sanctions. Zelenskyy called for increased pressure on "every supply chain for foreign components and every enterprise working to enable strikes against lives."
