Tyla's Reign: 'Chanel' Secures Third #1 on Afrobeats Chart!

Tyla has made a significant impact on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, with her new track “Chanel” debuting at No. 1 on the list dated November 8. This marks Tyla’s third chart-topping single on the ranking, which was established in April 2022, further solidifying her presence in the Afrobeats genre.
“Chanel” is characterized as an Afrobeat, amapiano, and pop composition. The song features a distinct lyrical theme, referencing the iconic designer brand and repeating the refrain “Say you love me, put me in Chanel.” Its chart-topping success is attributed to robust streaming and sales figures, recording 2.1 million official streams and several hundred song downloads in the United States during the tracking week of October 24-30, according to Luminate.
Beyond its U.S. performance, “Chanel” has also garnered international attention. It debuted at No. 5 on the World Digital Song Sales chart and notably claimed the No. 1 spot on the U.K.’s Official Afrobeats Chart, showcasing its broad appeal.
This latest achievement adds to Tyla’s growing list of No. 1s on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart. Her first breakthrough was with the crossover hit “Water,” which dominated the tally for an impressive 55 weeks between 2023 and 2024, simultaneously climbing to No. 7 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. Her second No. 1, “Push 2 Start,” ruled the chart for 20 frames in 2024-25.
Remarkably, both of Tyla’s previous No. 1 hits continue to maintain a presence on the current chart, with “Water” positioned at No. 3 and “Push 2 Start” at No. 5, demonstrating their enduring popularity.
“Chanel”’s ascension to the top position displaced “Shake It to the Max (Fly)” by MOLIY, Silent Addy, Skillibeng, and Shenseea, which had held the No. 1 spot for the preceding 25 weeks and now slides to No. 2. Despite this chart battle, Tyla and MOLIY have collaborated on another new entry. Their joint track, “Body Go,” debuted at No. 9 on this week’s Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, driven by approximately 325,000 official streams. This debut marks Tyla’s 15th top 10 entry on the chart and MOLIY’s second.
