Tragedy Strikes Nigerian Music Scene: Gospel Artist and Three Others Die in Studio Incident
A tragic incident occurred in theAbraham Adesanya, area of Ajah, Lagos State, where Gospel Artiste
and three members of his crew were found dead inside a music studio.
The other deceased were identified as Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and MatthewAwosanya (a blogger known as JoesTv).
The group had been invited to minister on Tuesday, the second day of a three-day birthday praise programme organized by fellow Gospel Artiste Olanireti Akinbola.
According to police sources and reports from The PunchOnline, the crew completed their session late on Tuesday and stayed overnight at the studio, reportedly due to the long distance to their homes.
Their bodies were discovered the following morning, Wednesday. A Christian blog, Omojesu, confirmed on Facebook that the individuals reportedly passed away in their sleep.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, officially confirmed the incident on Saturday.
She stated that the case was reported on Wednesday by Akintayo Akinbola, the studio owner and husband of the celebrant.
Akintayo explained that he left the artistes at his music studio, located in the HFP Shopping Complex, after providing them with food.
He returned around 11 a.m. on Wednesday to find the studio door locked from the inside. With assistance, he forced the door open and discovered the bodies.
Investigators visited the scene and took photographs, but no visible signs of violence were observed on the bodies.
The corpses were transported to Mainland Hospital, Yaba, where medical professionals confirmed their deaths before being deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
Meanwhile, colleagues and friends of the deceased have taken to social media demanding justice, particularly after online pictures surfaced showing bloodstains around the victims’ noses, ears, and mouths, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
