A tragic incident in Bolton saw a 78-year-old pensioner die in hospital after being rescued from a bungalow fire. Emergency services were initially called to the blaze at a terraced property on Lorton Grove, Breightment, around 3pm on Friday. Firefighters from Bolton and Farnworth fire stations responded to the call.

Upon arrival, firefighters successfully rescued the 78-year-old man from the burning bungalow. He was then transferred to the care of colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service and rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. Crews spent approximately two hours at the scene, using hose reels to extinguish the fire and ensure the area was made safe.

Sadly, police confirmed that the man later died from his injuries in the hospital. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated that inquiries into the incident are ongoing. However, at this stage, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
