Ondo Youth Leader Found Dead in Edo After Kidnapping and Ransom Payment

Ojo Abbey, also known as Ojo Gbara or 'Obesere', a youth leader from Isua Akoko in Ondo State, was tragically found dead in Igara, Edo State, following a kidnapping on February 22, 2026. Despite ransom demands being met, his family’s hopes for his release were shattered.
The abduction reportedly involved armed men suspected to be herders. Community youth and local hunters launched extensive search efforts, but Abbey’s decomposed body was discovered at the weekend. Authorities confirmed a suspect has been arrested, with police intensifying surveillance along the Ondo–Edo boundary.
The Isua Youth Forum called for urgent government action, demanding a thorough investigation and justice for Abbey. Police recovered his vehicle, an Almera car (KJA 440 DB), and continue to probe the incident amid rising insecurity in the region.
