Tragedy in London: 14-Year-Old Shot Dead, Three Teens Arrested

A murder investigation has been launched in Woolwich, south-east London, following the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Lord Warwick Street at approximately 3:40 pm on Thursday, prompting emergency calls to which the Metropolitan police responded. The victim, initially reported as a man, was confirmed as a 14-year-old boy on Friday.

In connection with the shooting, three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder. The individuals taken into custody include two boys, aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man. All three currently remain in police custody as the investigation progresses.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card conveyed her condolences, stating, “Our thoughts remain with the boy’s family and loved ones.” She acknowledged the concern this incident has caused within the local community, assuring that the investigation is moving at pace with an increased police presence in the area. DCI Card also confirmed that the boy’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
