Tinubu's Campaign Gets a Boost: Yari Appointed APC Campaign Director General

Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's strategic decision to appoint Senator Abdul’Aziz Abubakar Yari as the Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. Shinkafi, who is also an aspirant for the Zamfara North Senatorial District in 2027 and served as Patron for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in 2023, emphasized that this appointment demonstrates President Tinubu’s dedication to political inclusivity, competence, and robust electoral preparedness.

In a statement released on Saturday, Shinkafi articulated that Senator Yari possesses an invaluable combination of political structure, extensive experience, and unwavering loyalty, all essential qualities to steer the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign to triumph in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. He characterized the former Zamfara governor as a “man of structure,” renowned for his profound expertise in grassroots mobilization, intricate party organization, and high-level national politics, making him an ideal choice for the demanding role.

Shinkafi further highlighted the formative elements of Yari’s background that have significantly contributed to his exemplary leadership qualities. He noted that Yari was brought up within the esteemed Kayayen Mafara family, a lineage celebrated for its commitment to integrity, scholarly pursuits, dedicated community service, and human development. Additionally, Shinkafi pointed out Yari’s comprehensive educational journey, which integrated both Islamic and Western teachings, culminating in the attainment of a master’s degree from the prestigious University of Salford.

Tracing Yari’s distinguished political trajectory, Shinkafi recounted his origins at the grassroots level in Zamfara State, where he diligently served as State Secretary and subsequently ascended to State Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). Shinkafi underscored Yari's pivotal involvement in the campaign that successfully secured the re-election of former Zamfara Governor Ahmad Sani Yarima in 2003, an achievement that unequivocally established Yari's reputation as a highly capable political organizer and astute strategist.

Yari's political ascent continued with his service as National Treasurer of the ANPP, followed by his election to the House of Representatives, where he commendably represented the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency from 2007 to 2011. The former APGA national secretary also drew attention to Yari’s instrumental role in the foundational establishment of the APC, particularly his decisive action as then-governor of Zamfara State to support the party’s formation, even while operating from an opposition platform.
