Tinubu Nominates Bernard Doro as New Minister from Plateau, Awaiting Senate Confirmation

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking the confirmation of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The nomination, which was announced on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, identifies Dr. Doro as a candidate for a ministerial role, with some reports specifically indicating the position of humanitarian minister. The Senate is anticipated to undertake the screening and confirmation of Dr. Doro’s nomination in the coming days.
Dr. Doro’s nomination is a direct consequence of the election of Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who previously served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July. This pivotal change necessitated a new appointment from Plateau State to occupy the vacant ministerial slot.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro brings a wealth of expertise, accumulated over more than two decades of multidisciplinary experience. His extensive professional background encompasses clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and dedicated community engagement, cultivated through his work both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
Dr. Doro is highly credentialed academically, holding degrees in Pharmacy and Law. Further augmenting his qualifications, he possesses an MBA with a specialized focus on IT-driven business strategy, along with a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice. Professionally, he is recognized as an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner, having garnered significant frontline experience within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). His roles within the NHS have spanned various critical areas, including urgent care, walk-in centres, general practices, and hospital settings.
Beyond his distinguished professional accomplishments, Dr. Doro has also demonstrated a profound commitment to social welfare and community development. He has actively led numerous youth mentorship programs and initiated various social impact initiatives, engaging effectively with communities both within the diaspora and locally in Nigeria.
