The Silence Breaks: Take That on Jason Orange's Return Amidst Tour Excitement

Take That is set to rekindle the magic of their beloved 'Circus Live' tour in 2026, nearly two decades after its initial success in 2009. This highly anticipated revival will coincide with the release of their tenth studio album, promising fans a dual celebration. The band's current trio – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen – shared their excitement with The Mirror on the day of the announcement, offering an exclusive peek into what the upcoming tour entails.
Gary Barlow articulated the overwhelming sentiment within the band, stating, "There's no nerves. A lot of excitement. Today is big because we've told people what we're doing! So we've got to go through with it." He reflected on the years of discussion leading up to this decision, ultimately concluding that the readiness to perform again and the belief that audiences will have a "great night" are the driving forces behind the revival.
The passage of time since the original 2009 tour was a significant theme for the band members. Gary highlighted this by recalling his daughter being just three months old when the first 'Circus Live' tour began, and now she has completed her GCSEs. Similarly, Howard Donald became a father during the 2009 tour, noting that his two daughters were the same age as his two sons are today, creating a poignant full-circle moment. Gary mused on the changes both personally and within the band, particularly acknowledging their decade-long tenure as a three-piece since 2014, which he admitted "feels normal now."
A key question on many fans' minds revolves around the potential return of former members Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Gary addressed this directly, stating, "The door's always open. For everyone. Robbie included." However, he clarified, "But not on this particular occasion," indicating that while future reunions are not ruled out, the 2026 tour will feature the current trio. He also expressed that the band "always surprises me," leaving room for possibilities down the line.
Embodying the 'Circus' moniker for the tour requires considerable preparation, as the members revealed. Gary Barlow outlined an intensive regimen, emphasizing "A lot of gym. A lot of gym" and significant cardio training to ensure good lung capacity for singing on a large stage. He playfully mentioned the "forward roll" as a favourite circus skill. Howard Donald confirmed he has been actively honing his unicycling skills, a standout feature from the 2009 tour, acknowledging the physical challenge it presents to his legs. Mark Owen, ever the enthusiast for a challenge, pledged to master something new, even contemplating the high wire and eyeing a nearby circus school for lessons.
Mark shared his excitement for the high wire prospect, asserting his belief that he remains the same individual who embraced every opportunity during the original tour, despite acknowledging potential physical limitations. He enthusiastically described the 'Circus' experience as "one big party" that transforms a town with numerous activities and people dedicated to creating a memorable event. Howard Donald also reflected on his consistent nature, claiming he was "never very rock 'n' roll" even in the 90s, and humorously concluded that his current indulgences extend to a love for chips, embodying his unchanging, down-to-earth persona.
