Pop superstar Taylor Swift has expanded the release of her new song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Toy Story 5. Following the digital release of the original studio version on Friday, June 5, the 36-year-old artist made acoustic and piano versions of the track available for digital download on Sunday, June 7. These alternate renditions, previously only accessible as CD singles, can now be purchased individually for 99 cents via her website, with Apple Music links also shared on her Instagram Story.

The highly anticipated fifth installment in the animated franchise, Toy Story 5, is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 19, coinciding with the release of its full soundtrack. Swift had officially announced her contribution to the film with “I Knew It, I Knew You” on June 1, also offering physical copies of the song through her website at that time.

“I Knew It, I Knew You” is notably written from the perspective of the cowgirl character, Jessie. The song delves into her cherished memories with Woody while simultaneously rekindling her romance with Buzz Lightyear, as the beloved toys embark on new adventures together. Swift shared her creative process on X, stating, “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.” She also expressed her lifelong connection to the franchise, adding, “And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”

This track also marks another successful collaboration between Taylor Swift and her longtime producer, Jack Antonoff. Andrew Stanton, the director and screenwriter for Toy Story 5, lauded their work, remarking in a statement, “It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song.” The film sees the return of franchise stars Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie, as the iconic characters face a modern challenge: competing with technology and tablets for the attention of today’s children.
