Taylor Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl' Extends Historic Reign to 11 Weeks on Billboard 200!

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl secured its 11th nonconsecutive week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart dated January 3, 2026. The album earned 141,000 equivalent album units for the week ending December 15, reflecting a 35% increase driven largely by three new color vinyl variants available exclusively through Swift’s webstore. These limited editions, offered for a 24-hour pre-order window starting November 24, contributed to the boost once shipped around December 19, highlighting the power of collector demand.

This milestone ties "The Life of a Showgirl" with Swift’s previous chart-toppers 1989 (2014-15) and Fearless (2008-09), both commanding 11 weeks at No. 1. Of her 15 No. 1 albums—the most for any solo artist—only The Tortured Poets Department enjoyed a longer reign, spending 17 weeks atop the chart in 2024, underscoring Swift’s unparalleled dominance in modern music.

Coinciding with the chart week ending on Christmas Day for the first time since 2014, the Billboard 200 also featured a record-breaking seven holiday albums in the top 10. Leading the festive surge was Bing Crosby’s Ultimate Christmas, which soared to a new peak at No. 2. Previously, the record for holiday titles in the top 10 was six, first seen on the January 5, 1959, chart with iconic releases from Mitch Miller, Johnny Mathis, and Perry Como, demonstrating the enduring appeal of seasonal classics.

"The Life of a Showgirl" earned 97,000 units from traditional album sales, a 76% jump that secured its top spot on the Top Album Sales chart. Streaming equivalent album (SEA) units contributed 43,000 units, reflecting 56.23 million on-demand official streams, while track equivalent album (TEA) units accounted for 1,000 units, showing a slight increase. Meanwhile, Crosby’s Ultimate Christmas earned 110,000 units, with SEA units dominating at 106,000, resulting in a record-breaking 140.71 million streams of the album’s songs. The set features classics including “White Christmas,” “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” and “Mele Kalikimaka,” confirming Crosby’s legacy in holiday music.

Other top 10 holiday performers included Michael Bublé’s Christmas at No. 3 (104,000 units, up 51%), Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song at No. 4 (93,000 units, up 70%), and the various artists compilation A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector at No. 5 (81,000 units, up 70%). Vince Guaraldi Trio’s A Charlie Brown Christmas, Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas, and Frank Sinatra’s Ultimate Christmas also rose, emphasizing the continuing popularity of festive albums.

Among non-holiday releases, Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem dropped from No. 2 to No. 6 (75,000 units, up 3%), while the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack fell from No. 4 to No. 10 (62,000 units, down 13%). Luminate, Billboard’s independent data provider, ensures the chart’s accuracy by verifying all submissions and removing unverified data prior to final publication, maintaining the integrity of weekly rankings.
