Taylor Swift Reigns Supreme on ARIA Charts, Surpassing Paul Kelly

The latest ARIA Charts released on Friday, November 14, highlight U.S. pop sensation Taylor Swift dominating both the national albums and singles charts. Her album, The Life Of A Showgirl (Republic/Universal), secures its sixth consecutive week at the top of the albums chart, underscoring Swift's enduring appeal in the Australian market.
Matching her album’s success, Swift’s lead single, “The Fate Of Ophelia”, also claims its sixth week at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. This achievement ties her personal best, previously set by 2022’s “Anti-Hero”, further cementing her reputation as a consistent chart-topping artist.
Australian music legend Paul Kelly also makes waves with his latest album, Seventy (EMI), debuting at No. 2 and claiming the week’s top new release slot. At 70 years old, Kelly’s illustrious career includes 16 ARIA Awards, an induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame, and four prior No. 1 albums. His enduring influence continues to shape the Australian music landscape.
Homegrown talent continues to thrive, with Canberra’s pop-punk band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers entering the top ten with their second studio album, GLORY (Community Music). The group, recent winners of the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award at the 2024 ARIA Awards, continues to showcase Australian innovation in contemporary music.
On the international front, Spanish sensation Rosalía secures her first top 50 appearance in Australia with Lux (Columbia/Sony), debuting at No. 15. The album made global waves with 42.1 million streams within 24 hours of release, a record for a Spanish-speaking female artist, highlighting her growing impact worldwide.
The Australian chart scene is further strengthened by veteran country singer James Blundell, whose album Patience Wins (AMB/MGM) debuts at No. 25, and singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly, whose Love and Fortune (DOT/RMT) enters at No. 31. These releases demonstrate the depth of Australia’s thriving local talent.
The punk rock genre continues to shine with Cosmic Psychos’ I Really Like Beer (RKT) debuting at No. 32, while Icecream Hands enter at No. 38 with Giant Fox Pineapple Tree. These releases showcase the resilience and creativity of independent Australian bands.
In singles, beyond Taylor Swift’s continued dominance, U.K. act Haven debuts at No. 8 with their viral track “I Run”, the only new entry in the top 50 this week. Additionally, Tame Impala’s “Dracula” climbs from 37 to 34, remaining the sole Australian entry on the singles chart.
