Labour Party Picks Nathan Sanda Jnr as Consensus Governorship Candidate

The Labour Party (LP) in Taraba State has adopted businessman Nathan Sanda Jnr as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election. His emergence was confirmed during the party’s primary election in Jalingo, where several other aspirants for elective positions were also returned through consensus arrangements.

Party leaders described the development as a major step toward offering Taraba voters an alternative platform ahead of the polls. Speaking at the event, Electoral Committee Chairman Chief Edeh Ogbudu said the Labour Party remains committed to justice, equity, development, and equal opportunities for all residents.

State chairman Simon Zubairu expressed confidence in the party’s chances in 2027 and urged members to remain united, conduct their campaigns with integrity, and support ongoing grassroots mobilisation efforts across the state's 16 local government areas.

In his acceptance speech, Sanda pledged to leverage his business and management experience to transform Taraba’s economy through industrialisation and increased production. He said his administration would focus on empowering entrepreneurs, expanding private-sector growth, and creating wealth for residents. According to him, Taraba has vast untapped potential that can be unlocked through effective leadership and sound economic policies.
