The recent removal of Taylor Swift’s song “August” from a TikTok post by an account associated with former President Donald Trump has ignited a flurry of reactions and further highlighted the ongoing tensions between the pop superstar and the Trump camp. The incident, noted by U.S. TikTok users on Friday, August 7, saw the 2020 Folklore track disappear from a clip originally shared by Team Trump, an account launched during Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
The original TikTok post featured an edited video of Donald and Melania Trump watching a fireworks display, with “August” playing in the background. Overlaying text read, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president,” while the caption provocatively stated, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.” Upon the song's removal, users were met with a message declaring, “This sound isn’t available.” The comments section quickly became a hub for reactions, with users celebrating Swift’s presumed action, posting remarks like “TAYLOR REMOVING THE AUDIO QUEEEEEEN,” “sorry what was that? cant hear the song,” and “She removed it, clocked you guys.”

According to Variety, a clip featuring Swift’s 2025 hit “Father Figure,” posted in November of that year, is no longer available. Similarly, a 2025 video on the White House’s official TikTok account that incorporated Swift’s song “The Fate of Ophelia” has also vanished. Following these removals, the Team Trump account escalated its engagement by attempting to troll Swift further. It posted a video utilizing a live performance version of the title track from her 2012 album, "Red." This post notably featured "Red"-styled cover art, a mock-up of Trump’s profile superimposed over the letters, and a fake "Red (Trump’s Version)" playlist. As of publication, sound was also unavailable on this particular post. The accompanying caption quipped, “Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican Party,” clearly referencing the political implications.
