Somaliland Begins Consultations on 2027 Budget as Government Prioritizes Growth and Security

Somaliland's Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has commenced formal consultations with lawmakers on the preparation of the 2027 national budget, outlining key priorities including economic growth, national security, public administration, and the expansion of essential public services.

Finance Minister Abdillahi Hassan Aden, alongside senior ministry officials, briefed the House of Representatives' Committee on Economy, Finance and Trade on the country's macroeconomic framework, government revenue and expenditure policies, and the strategic objectives guiding next year's fiscal plans.

The ministry disclosed that the 2027 budget is being prepared in accordance with Somaliland's Public Financial Management Law No. 75/2025, with officials emphasizing transparency, accountability, and continuous stakeholder engagement throughout the process.

Minister Aden commended the parliamentary committee for its role in strengthening public financial management, noting that consultations remain critical to ensuring the budget aligns with Somaliland's national development priorities and is completed within the stipulated legal timeframe.

Lawmakers welcomed the ministry's adherence to the budget preparation schedule and praised the collaborative relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

Members of the committee offered recommendations and sought clarifications on aspects of the proposed framework, with both sides agreeing to sustain regular consultations ahead of the budget's formal submission to parliament.
