SNL Mayhem: A$AP Rocky Debuts and Joins Sabrina Carpenter for Wild Sketch

Saturday Night Live featured A$AP Rocky as its musical guest in an episode that aired on January 17, with surprise appearances from pop star Sabrina Carpenter and host Finn Wolfhard. The episode marked Rocky’s first-ever performance as a musical guest on the long-running sketch show, coinciding with the release of his latest album, Don’t Be Dumb.

Rocky opened the night with a high-energy performance of “Punk Rocky,” staged on a chaotic, back-alley-inspired set. The performance included notable guest musicians Danny Elfman on drums and Thundercat on bass, echoing the song’s eccentric music video.

Rocky appeared on stage wearing pink hair curlers and wielding a megaphone, amplifying the song’s raw, unfiltered aesthetic.

He later returned to perform a medley of “Helicopter” and the album’s title track, “Don’t Be Dumb.”

Comedy Sketch, Surprise Cameos, and Career Highlights

Beyond his musical performances, A$AP Rocky also appeared in a nearly six-minute comedy sketch titled “Snack Homiez.”

The segment starred Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard as a “looksmaxxing gigachad” Twitch streamer, alongside cast members Chloe Fineman, Jane Wickline, and Veronika Slowikowska, who portrayed 12-year-old boys.

The sketch humorously centered on the group roasting one another while ranking their “goated snacks of 2026,” incorporating Gen Alpha slang such as “low-key,” “bro chill,” “no Diddy,” and “chopped.”

Sabrina Carpenter, 26, made a surprise cameo in the sketch, reprising a similar role from a previous appearance.

During the segment, the group debated snack choices including toasted Uncrustables, celery after soccer practice, and deviled eggs, before turning their attention to Rocky.

When asked about his favorite snack, he revealed his personal flavor of Rap Snacks potato chips: “Fashion Killa Dilla Pickle.”

Carpenter’s return to SNL follows her October 2025 episode, where she served as both host and musical guest after the release of her seventh album, Man’s Best Friend, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. During that episode, she performed her hit singles “Manchild” and “Nobody’s Son.”

While Rocky has appeared on SNL before—including a 2018 sketch titled “Friendos” alongside Kenan Thompson and Donald Glover—this episode marked his first appearance as a musical guest.

His previous album, Testing (2018), peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, while his earlier projects, Long. Live. ASAP (2013) and At. Long. Last. ASAP (2015), both reached No. 1.
