Shocking Stage Incident: Bring Me the Horizon's Oliver Sykes Injured by Fan's Thrown Phone!

Oliver Sykes, the dynamic frontman of the acclaimed British rock band Bring Me the Horizon, recently sustained a mild concussion after an unexpected incident during the band’s concert in St. Louis. On Monday night, an audience member threw a phone onto the stage, striking Sykes in the head while he was performing “Happy Song” from their 2015 album, *That’s the Spirit*. Footage captured by fans clearly shows the phone making contact with Sykes. His immediate reaction was one of shock and frustration, exclaiming, “Who the f*** just threw a phone at my f***ing head?” before throwing the device back into the crowd. Following the impact, Sykes was observed feeling his head and checking his hands, presumably for any visible injury or blood.
The incident visibly affected Sykes’ performance for the remainder of the evening. During their rendition of “Can You Feel My Heart,” he was seen pausing multiple times to rub his temples and forehead, indicating ongoing discomfort and disorientation from the blow. This struggle highlighted the immediate physical consequences of the reckless act by the audience member.
On Tuesday, May 12, Sykes took to his Instagram Story to provide fans with an update and an explanation for his altered performance. He assured everyone, “Alright everyone – just wanted to let you know I’m all good.” Sykes confirmed the injury, stating, “The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling’s gone down a decent amount already.” He also extended an apology to the fans who witnessed his performance after the incident, explaining, “Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing, so I’m sorry on my part for what may of seemed like a half hearted performance.” Concluding his message, the rocker reassured fans attending their upcoming Tuesday show in Kansas City that “everything should be fine for tonight’s gig,” promising a full return to form.
