Shocking Blow! Injured Champ Skye Nicolson Withdraws from Birmingham Fight Card

WBC junior featherweight champion Skye Nicolson has been forced to withdraw from her highly anticipated bout against Miyo Yoshida due to an injury. The fight was scheduled to take place on the MVPW-06 card on August 29 in Birmingham, England, as part of the undercard for Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron's unification bout. This unfortunate turn of events means Yoshida will also not remain on the card, with plans to reschedule the fight with Nicolson at a later date.

Nicolson (16-1, 3 KOs) was set to make her debut with Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), having signed with the promotion last month following the announcement of a strategic alliance between MVP and Matchroom. Her withdrawal marks a delay in her initial appearance under the new promotional banner.

In a statement, Nicolson expressed her regret, stating, "I'd like to sincerely apologise to Miyo Yoshida and her team for this delay. I have nothing but respect for Miyo and I'm looking forward to finally sharing the ring with her before the end of the year." She also shared positive news, mentioning that while recovering, she would attend the MVPW-05 event in Orlando to support fellow Australian World Champions and other athletes. Nicolson assured her fans that a new date for her fight with Yoshida would be finalized soon, and she is eager to return to full health and resume her boxing career.

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, acknowledged the situation, saying, "Skye Nicolson has unfortunately been forced to postpone her MVP debut due to injury, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery." He added that MVP looks forward to welcoming her back to the ring soon.

Despite Nicolson's withdrawal, the MVPW-06 undercard will see an exciting addition. Neeraj Goyat (20-4-2, 9 KOs), India's top boxer, is set to join the event to fight Yessin Koulai (8-1, 3 KOs). Goyat expressed his pride in representing India on the global stage with Most Valuable Promotions, viewing it as a crucial step in showcasing Indian boxing to the world.
