RingCentral's AI Receptionist Gets Supercharged With Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp!

RingCentral has significantly expanded the capabilities of its AI Receptionist (AIR) product, moving it beyond traditional call answering to encompass a broader range of routine customer service tasks. This strategic enhancement introduces crucial new links to popular platforms such as Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp, aiming to provide more comprehensive and intelligent support for businesses.
The upgraded AI Receptionist, known as AIR, is now equipped to manage various operational duties. Through its new Shopify integration, AIR can efficiently handle basic order inquiries, providing customers with information about their purchases. The integration with Calendly allows AIR to seamlessly arrange and manage appointments, streamlining scheduling processes. Furthermore, AIR can now respond to inbound messages on WhatsApp, a widely used messaging application, extending its reach to a preferred communication channel for many consumers and small businesses. Beyond these direct platform links, RingCentral is also integrating AIR into shared SMS inboxes and call queues, enabling it to answer text messages and step in to manage calls when phone lines are busy or human staff are otherwise unavailable, thereby ensuring continuous customer interaction.
RingCentral reports that over 11,800 businesses are currently leveraging AIR, underscoring its growing adoption. The product is primarily designed for small and mid-sized organizations that receive a high volume of inbound inquiries. RingCentral highlights its utility across diverse sectors, citing successful implementations in healthcare, financial services, legal, hospitality, and construction, where AIR effectively handles front-desk operations and provides essential after-hours coverage.
Customer testimonials further illustrate AIR's tangible benefits. Keller Interiors, an installation company servicing Lowe’s Home Improvement, deployed AIR across 33 locations to address a complex routing challenge. Beth Owens, Chief of Staff at Keller Interiors, lauded AIR for solving a problem that lacked a viable human solution: "RingCentral AIR solved a problem we didn’t have a good human answer for, how do you route every inbound call correctly, 24/7, across 33 locations, without building a call centre?" This deployment led to a dramatic reduction in waiting times, from an average of 12 minutes down to just 90 seconds, and contributed to a three-point increase in customer satisfaction scores over a four-month period.
Similarly, Tara Breaux, Vice-President of Operations at Maple Federal Credit Union, reported significant improvements in customer service. By utilizing AIR, the credit union achieved a 90% reduction in hold times within its branches, facilitating faster service, alleviating strain on staff, and allowing employees to concentrate on more meaningful customer interactions.
In addition to its new integration capabilities, RingCentral is introducing automatic language detection. This advanced feature allows AIR to identify a caller’s language and continue the conversation in that detected language. The system supports 10 languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese, enhancing its accessibility and global utility.
Industry experts recognize the significance of these updates. Michelle Morgan, Research Manager for AI-enabled sales, customer service, and contact center strategies at IDC, commented on the expansion, stating, "RingCentral’s expansion of AIR into Shopify, Calendly, WhatsApp, and intelligent call queues shows what applied AI should look like: every feature tied to a clear pain point." Joe Fahrner, RingCentral’s Vice-President of Growth for AI Products, shared a more expansive vision, positioning AIR as an evolving "digital employee" for small and mid-market businesses.
RingCentral AIR is now available as a standalone product, priced at $49 per month, which includes 100 minutes of usage. Existing RingEX customers can integrate AIR into their services for a reduced rate of $39 per month, also encompassing 100 minutes.
