Regina Daniels' Family Saga: Ned Nwoko Accused of Abuse Amidst Petition & Divorce Speculation

A significant marital crisis involving Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has unfolded publicly, marked by accusations of intimidation, abuse, and family interventions. The dispute gained traction when Regina Daniels' elder brother, Sweezy, publicly called out Ned Nwoko on Instagram, accusing him of intimidation and misuse of power, and encouraging the public to sign a petition for accountability. Sweezy stated that if Nwoko is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, he could be reported to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for issues like domestic abuse, harassment, and power misuse.
An online petition titled “Hold Ned Nwoko accountable for abuse of power” quickly garnered thousands of signatures. Sweezy also shared an open letter from members of the Ogwashi-Uku community addressed to Ned Nwoko. This letter expressed disappointment over the alleged harassment and intimidation of Regina’s family, emphasizing that their tradition does not permit forced marriages. The family claimed they attempted multiple times to return the bride price, but Nwoko allegedly refused, prompting them to deposit it through traditional processes. The community condemned the arrest and detention of family members over a domestic dispute as an affront to their dignity and culture, requesting peace and warning of further traditional and legal remedies if intimidation continued. Sweezy further claimed to possess video and voice evidence, including conversations where Nwoko allegedly admitted to slapping Regina, stating he made matters public after private resolution efforts failed. He also demanded the release of their brother, Sammy West.
Sammy West was arrested by security agents in Lagos and subsequently transferred to Abuja on November 5, where he was immediately charged to an undisclosed court. Sweezy called for protests and confirmed that a petition against Ned Nwoko submitted in the UK was under investigation by the UK government.
Regina Daniels herself addressed the controversies in an emotional video on Instagram, refuting claims that she was forced into the marriage. She revealed that her mother, Rita Daniels, and other family members initially opposed her union with Ned Nwoko, with her brothers fighting and breaking bottles in protest. Regina tearfully admitted that she fell deeply in love with Nwoko, so much so that she contemplated suicide if she couldn't marry him. She pleaded with Nigerians to stop insulting her mother, describing her as her
