Carragher Questions Arne Slot’s Liverpool Future After Spurs Clash
Liverpool’s poor run continued as they drew 1-1 with struggling Tottenham at home. Szoboszlai put Liverpool ahead, but Richarlison scored in the last minute to snatch a point for Tottenham, their first in six games.
Jamie Carragher cast doubt on the mentality of Liverpool's squad and explained why he thinks Arne Slot's team have become so straightforward to compete against.
Jeers echoed throughout Anfield at full-time after Richarlison's 90th-minute leveller secured Tottenham's embattled caretaker boss Igor Tudor a vital point.
Liverpool’s draw has raised big questions about their future and coach Arne Slot.
Former Defender Jamie Carragher called their performance“awful,” especially since Tottenham has been struggling.
He said Liverpool had motivation from other weekend results but still looked flat.
Carragher also said a new manager might struggle to bring energy back and blamed summer signings, pointing out that many players prefer keeping the ball over defending, making the team easy to beat.
Former Manchester United Captain Roy Keane slammed Liverpool, saying they lack a winning mindset.
He pointed to tension in the team and problems with players, the manager, and transfers.
“They’ve been bad champions. Now they’re 21 points behind Arsenal. That’s terrible,” he said.
With results like this, Liverpool’s season looks bleak and the fans are frustrated, and even Dominik Szoboszlai said the team “should be happy” just to be in the Conference League.
On the other side, Tottenham boss Igor Tudor may have earned a temporary reprieve thanks to Richarlison's heroics.
There had been considerable speculation about the recently-appointed Croatian's job security following their disastrous midweek loss to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League.
However, former Spurs midfielder Jamie Redknapp dismissed the idea of an immediate managerial change, stating, "I don't see there is a value in changing. It's not that easy. There aren't many candidates out there."
Redknapp concluded that a loss would have likely forced the club's hand due to fan demand, but the draw provided a moment of relief.
