Presidential Power Play: Tinubu Charms Macron in Paris for Crucial Bilateral Talks

President Bola Tinubu held a significant working private lunch with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, at the historic Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The meeting was initially disclosed by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via his X handle, noting the private nature of the lunch. At the time of the initial reports, the specific agenda of this high-level meeting had not been made public.
However, President Tinubu himself later provided insights into the discussions, describing the meeting as productive. Through a post on his official X handle, @officialABAT, President Tinubu revealed that the dialogue centered on critical areas of cooperation between Nigeria and France. He emphasized that both leaders agreed to deepen their partnership, aiming for enhanced mutual prosperity and contributing to global stability. This commitment highlights the strategic importance of the bilateral relations between the two nations.
This meeting took place during President Tinubu's annual working leave, which commenced on September 4, 2025, and is scheduled to last for 10 working days. During this period, the Nigerian President is expected to visit both France and the United Kingdom before his return to Nigeria. The encounter with President Macron forms a key part of his itinerary, reinforcing diplomatic ties and exploring avenues for collaboration.
