Police Act on Viral Bullying Video, Davido Calls Perpetrators 'Animals'

Eno Ikoedem, the police spokesperson, revealed that Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika has ordered the local Divisional Police Officer to visit the school and launch a full investigation into what happened.
The footage, which circulated widely on X a few days ago, showed two male students physically assaulting a fellow student who was lying helpless on the ground.
In the clip, one of the alleged bullies was seen grabbing the victim by his suit and stomping on his chest while the boy cried out in pain.
A third student, believed to be the one recording, could be heard pleading with the attackers to stop.
The video triggered widespread outrage online, with many users condemning the act and urging authorities to ensure that those involved face appropriate consequences.
And this includes to Davido reacting to the disturbing footage in a post on X, describing the students involved as “animals” and calling the act “disgusting”.
The management of Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City has taken immediate action after a video showed students bullying and physically attacking another student.
In a statement, the school, including Acting Principal Mrs. Ann Apeh and other officials, said this behavior goes against the school’s values.
They stressed that bullying, violence, harassment, and cultism are not tolerated at any level.
Following an immediate investigation, the students found responsible for the act of bullying were expelled from the institution with immediate effect.
Additionally, the student who recorded the incident was suspended.
The school reported the incident to the authorities, is helping with the investigation, and is supporting the students and their families.
The Edo State Police say they will catch and punish those behind the recent bullying incident.
They warn that anyone involved in bullying or violence will face the law.
They also ask the public to stay calm and share any useful information to help with the investigation.
