Olivia Dean Dominates ARIA Charts, Crowned 2025's Chart Queen

English singer and songwriter Olivia Dean has concluded the year with a remarkable display of dominance across the ARIA Singles and Albums Charts. As the national tallies were released late on Friday, December 26, Dean's international hit "Man I Need" secured the top position on the singles chart for an impressive sixth consecutive week. Concurrently, its accompanying album, "The Art Of Loving," released via Universal, reigned supreme on the albums rankings for its fourth non-consecutive week. This chart success follows her notable appearance at the 2025 ARIA Awards, held the previous month in Sydney, and has seen Dean consistently command the ARIA charts throughout much of December. Notably, she achieved the rare feat of claiming the double for a third consecutive cycle in these concluding stages of the year. Additionally, Dean introduced one of four new releases on the ARIA Singles Chart this week, with her track "I’ve Seen It" debuting at No. 50.
Beyond Olivia Dean's continued success, the ARIA Singles Chart also saw significant movement from other artists. Liverpool, England rapper EsDeeKid made a notable impact, converting his strong presence on TikTok and widespread internet speculation into multiple, improving chart positions. His track "4 Raws" entered the ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart for the first time, climbing from No. 54 to No. 28. Similarly, "Century" moved up from No. 60 to No. 45, while "Phantom," featuring Rico Ace, made its ascent from No. 31 to No. 21. All of EsDeeKid's chart entries were released through Lizzy Records/ADA.
Bringing a touch of holiday cheer to the latest chart frame, emo favorites Fall Out Boy's "It Feels Like Christmas" unwrapped at No. 29. This latest top 40 hit for the band is a cover version, with the original song famously appearing in the 1992 film "The Muppet Christmas Carol." The only Australian artist making a mark on the national chart was Tame Impala, whose track "Dracula" (Columbia/Sony) experienced a slight dip, moving from No. 35 to No. 41 in its tenth week on the chart.
A significant change in the ARIA chart landscape has affected the presence of older recordings. Typically, this time of year would see Christmas-themed songs inundating the all-genres singles and albums charts. However, this trend has been altered due to a sweeping overhaul of the chart criteria several months ago. Under the new rules, "golden oldies"—recordings released at least two years prior—are now relegated to the dedicated "On Replay" charts. Consequently, familiar faces and beloved tunes are now cleaning up on these specialized charts. Michael Buble’s "Christmas" album (Reprise/Warner) has reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the On Replay Albums Chart, while Mariah Carey’s iconic holiday anthem “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Columbia/Sony) has been crowned at the top of the singles side of the On Replay charts.
