Oasis Bids Farewell: Global Tour Ends in Brazil with Ashcroft's Emotional Tribute

Oasis concluded their monumental 'Oasis Live '25' global world tour after 41 shows across five continents, marking their long-anticipated return after 16 years. The legendary Mancunian band performed for the final time in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday, November 23, in front of 60,000 fans, capping off a triumphant four months of world domination. Frontmen Liam and Noel Gallagher graced stages across Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, and South America, defying years of feuds and making a reunion, once thought inconceivable, a reality.
The Oasis Live ‘25 tour quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The immense anticipation leading up to the opening show in Cardiff in July gave way to sold-out crowds worldwide, with fans traveling from every continent. Critics hailed the comeback: The Sunday Times declared it 'the biggest rock comeback in history,' while the Manchester Evening News described it as 'the show that meant everything.' Billboard claimed Oasis had 'finally conquered the States,' and Vogue noted the band's 'lore and allure have remained firmly intact.' The Hollywood Reporter observed that 'fans of every generation were present,' and international outlets like El Universal and Rolling Stone Japan recognized it as a 'cultural event' and 'social phenomenon' even drawing in Generation Z.
The tour's launch was the biggest ever seen in the UK and Ireland, with over 10 million fans from 158 countries vying for tickets and approximately 900,000 tickets sold. Initially, seventeen dates across five cities in the UK and Ireland were announced, including multiple shows at Wembley Stadium in London and Heaton Park in Manchester, with additional dates added due to overwhelming demand. In Manchester, 'Oasis mania' swept the city, creating 'Gallagher Hill' at Heaton Park, an Aldi re-naming, and Liam Gallagher temporarily voicing the Metrolink tram network. The tour's announcement, preceding the 30th anniversary of their debut album 'Definitely Maybe,' saw several of their albums like 'Familiar To Millions (25th Anniversary Edition),' 'Time Flies,' '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?,' and 'Definitely Maybe' re-enter the UK Top 40. Globally, an estimated 2.9 million people attended the concerts.
During the final concert in São Paulo, Liam Gallagher delivered an emotional closing message, thanking his brother Noel, bandmates Bonehead, Andy, Gem, Joey, and Cristian, as well as management, crew, and promoters. He especially thanked the fans for 'putting this band back on the map,' concluding with: 'We love you. Thanks for all your attitudes. Take care of yourselves and we'll see you again sometime. Champagne Supernova.' This came amid talks of potential European dates next year, including shows at the Etihad and Knebworth. A statement released by the band after the tour's conclusion confirmed: 'The most damaging pop cultural force in recent British history’ found its way into the hearts and minds of a new generation… There will now be a pause for a period of reflection.'
The Brazilian leg of the tour also featured heartfelt tributes to the late Stone Roses bassist, Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, who passed away recently. Richard Ashcroft, supporting Oasis, paid his respects, dedicating 'Bittersweet Symphony' to Mani in São Paulo, with his bassist Damon Minchella briefly playing the bassline intro to 'She Bangs The Drums.' Ashcroft had earlier described Mani on Instagram as 'one of the loveliest positive musicians to spend time with' and a 'key element to the band that inspired me.' Later, Liam Gallagher dedicated Oasis’s performance of 'Live Forever' to Mani, stating: 'We wanna dedicate this to our dear friend, our hero, the one and only Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield.' An image of Mani was displayed on the screen behind the band, and Liam sang 'You’re gonna live forever' as the song concluded, with the band turning to face the image. Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs also honored Mani by sharing a picture of himself in a Brazil football shirt bearing Mani’s name.
