Nationwide Health Alert: 42,000 Bottles of Hair Growth Serums Recalled

Nearly 42,000 bottles of hair growth serums have been recalled across the United States due to a critical child safety hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on January 15. The affected products contain minoxidil, a potent hair-loss medication similar to Rogaine, which is legally required to be sold in child-resistant packaging.
The recalled serums fail to meet this requirement, creating a serious risk of poisoning if ingested by young children. While no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, the CPSC strongly urges consumers to immediately secure these products out of children’s reach.

The recall affects two specific minoxidil-containing hair growth serums sold online through Amazon:
• RootStim Beard Growth Serum
• Strength: 5% Minoxidil solution
• Packaging: 60 ml (2.0 fl oz) spray bottles in black and orange boxes
• Units sold: ~16,900
• Sale period: November 2024 – September 2025
• Ruahouine Hair Growth Serum
• Packaging: 60 ml (2.11 fl oz) transparent amber dropper bottles
• Units sold: ~25,000
• Sale period: January 2025 – July 2025
This recall follows a smaller December 2025 incident, where about 840 bottles of Feel The Beard Minoxidil Beard Growth Oil were recalled for the same child safety issue.
Consumer Guidance and Refund Information
Consumers who own any of the recalled hair growth serums should:
1. Store the products securely, out of sight and reach of children.
2. Contact the seller for instructions to obtain a full refund and a replacement that complies with child-resistant packaging requirements.
The CPSC emphasizes that these steps are essential for preventing accidental ingestion and potential poisoning, particularly in households with young children.
