This tragic incident led to the deaths of at least three individuals, a fact officially confirmed by the Nigerian Police Force, Nasarawa State command. The confirmation was delivered through a statement issued in Lafia, the state capital, on Wednesday, by the command’s spokesman, SP Ramhan Nansel.

According to the detailed statement, the Police command was alerted to the unfolding crisis after receiving a distress call on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The call reported an egregious attack by unknown gunmen within the tranquil village. In a rapid and decisive response to the urgent report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, immediately dispatched a dedicated detachment of Mobile Police personnel along with other specialized tactical teams to the affected area. During the critical response operation conducted on the ground, law enforcement officers made grim discoveries. They successfully recovered the bodies of two deceased persons from the scene. Regrettably, despite medical efforts, one of the injured victims tragically succumbed to their wounds in the early hours of Wednesday, elevating the total number of fatalities from the attack to three.
