Moss Side Rocked by Tragic Murder: Musician's Stabbing Sparks Major Investigation

A murder investigation is actively underway in Moss Side following the tragic death of Dre Brown, who has been named by heartbroken friends as the man at the centre of the inquiry. Police were called to Raby Street at approximately 11pm on Friday, May 8, after receiving reports of a stabbing incident.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in his 30s suffering from injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was immediately transported to hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The victim was later identified by friends as Dre Brown, whose full first name was Adrian. Mr. Brown was a well-known musician, performing under the name StanaMan, and is understood to have been a father to three children.
In the wake of the incident, tributes have begun to flood social media platforms, with many expressing profound sadness and shock. One friend shared their grief, stating, "RIP, Dre. You will be sadly missed. Gone far too soon. You were such a kind soul and amazing father." Another individual described him as a 'good kid', while a pal simply wrote, "Rest in peace, Dre." Natalie Brownlie and Jamie Whitehead also posted their respects, with Whitehead recalling, "R.I.P Dre you was a good kid had a few laffs with you in the Claremont rest easy mate." Rheannee Blake highlighted his positive demeanor: "Can't believe it man he always had a smile on his face r.i.p stana man." Marrisa Leigh expressed disbelief, "Waking up to this news this morning honestly am speechless. You never really know how much life we have left. From God we came, and to Him we shall return. Rest easy. Dre Brown." David Waite and Sean Daly added to the tributes, lamenting "Another life taken too soon" and "Awww RIP Kidda, gonna miss that smile" respectively.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. He was detained on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning by detectives. A significant police scene was established on Raby Street, close to Westwood Street, and remained in place throughout Saturday afternoon. A forensic tent was erected inside the cordon, and forensic specialists were observed meticulously combing the scene, placing evidence markers along the street.
A GMP spokesperson provided an official statement: "Officers responded to an incident in Raby Street, Moss Side following reports of an assault at around 11pm last night (08/05/20). One man aged in his 30s had injuries consistent with a stabbing and was taken to hospital, where he sadly died shortly after. Our thoughts remain with the victim's family, who are being supported by specialist officers. One man, aged 18, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing." The force added that inquiries into the tragic incident were continuing.
