Morocco's national football team, famously known as the Atlas Lions, has been dealt a significant setback just 48 hours before their crucial World Cup opener against Brazil. The team, which defied expectations by reaching the semi-finals in the previous tournament, will be without two key players: Nayef Aguerd and Abde Ezzalzouli. Both players have been officially withdrawn from the squad due to injuries, severely impacting the team's preparations and aspirations.

Abde Ezzalzouli, a Real Betis forward, sustained an injury during a 1-1 friendly draw against Norway on Monday night. Initially, head coach Mohamed Ouahbi had expressed a desire to assess the severity of his injury, along with that of Manchester United's Noussair Mazraoui. While Mazraoui's shoulder injury appears to be minor, Ezzalzouli's World Cup campaign has been prematurely ended. This is a substantial blow for the young forward, who was anticipated to be a first-choice player after an impressive season with 18 goal contributions in 29 La Liga appearances.

Meanwhile, Nayef Aguerd of Marseille was also confirmed to be out. The defender did not participate in the friendly against Norway due to an existing groin injury that he brought into the training camp.
