Michael Jackson Estate Ignites Feud with Sexyy Red Over 'Unauthorized' Beat It Remix

The Michael Jackson Estate has strongly condemned Rapper Sexyy Red’s explicit rendition of the King of Pop’s iconic song “Beat It”, which she titled “Just Eat It.”

The controversy erupted after footage of Sexyy Red performing her version went viral across social media platforms.

A spokesperson for the estate confirmed to Billboard that they were completely unaware of the rendition and stressed that the use of the music was unauthorized.

Due to the lack of approval, Sexyy Red is not expected to receive any official clearance from the estate for “Just Eat It” to appear on digital streaming platforms (DSPs).

The viral clip initially surfaced when Lil Yachty posted a video of Sexyy Red rapping in the studio on his backup Instagram page, drawing both widespread attention and backlash from Michael Jackson fans.

Yachty’s caption jokingly suggested the remix might appear on the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic soundtrack in April.

Sexyy Red’s version includes explicit lyrics such as:

“Just eat it, just eat it / You better not nut fast because I hate a minute man / And if that d—k is trash, I’m telling all my friends / I’ll beat your a— and we bout to throw them hands.”

She further leaned into the controversy by posting another clip on Instagram captioned: “Leaked footage from da Michael Jackson movie HOOCHIE TRIBUTE TO DA BEST LLMJ.”

The rap community has also criticized the remix. Pioneer Monie Love condemned the sample flip, calling it “beyond disrespectful” and stating on X:

“Whoever cleared the ‘Beat It’ sample for Sexyy Red, I hope they know they not seeing heaven. Playing with MJ name and discography like that is beyond disrespectful!”

Despite the backlash, Sexyy Red has previously shown admiration for Michael Jackson, bringing an MJ impersonator, Rico Hampton, to perform “Billie Jean” at a St.

Louis show in November. Michael Jackson’s original “Beat It”, released in 1982 on the seminal Thriller album and produced by Quincy Jones, topped the Billboard Hot 100 and remains one of his most iconic hits.
