Mega Millions: Capital B Bags €21M from Crypto Whales to Boost Bitcoin Holdings

Capital B, recognized as Europe’s pioneering bitcoin treasury company and listed on Euronext Growth, has successfully concluded a private placement, raising a substantial €21 million ($24 million). This significant funding round was supported by prominent figures such as Blockstream's Adam Back and asset manager TOBAM. The company announced on Friday that the net proceeds, expected to reach approximately €19.9 million after accounting for fees and transaction costs, are earmarked to acquire an additional 270 bitcoins, which would effectively boost its total bitcoin stack to an estimated 3,415 BTC.

The private placement involved the sale of 36,219,070 shares at a price of €0.58 each, representing a 6.45% discount compared to Wednesday’s closing price. As it stands, Capital B ranks as the 27th largest publicly traded bitcoin treasury globally, according to Bitcoin Treasuries. Its current holdings amount to 3,145 bitcoins, which were valued at $245 million based on a bitcoin price of $77,960 at the time of the announcement. A substantial portion of Capital B’s existing bitcoin position was amassed through a series of fundraising initiatives conducted during the first half of 2026, including the acquisition of 192 coins for €13 million following three successful capital raises in May.

This latest announcement from Capital B comes at a time when other corporate bitcoin treasuries are also actively seeking to raise capital and accelerate their bitcoin acquisitions. For instance, Genius Group, an AI-powered education company listed on the NYSE, recently declared its intention to establish parallel AI and bitcoin treasuries with a combined value of $1.6 billion, shortly after liquidating its entire bitcoin reserves to settle $8.5 million in debt. The landscape for bitcoin treasuries has presented challenges since 2025, when the leading cryptocurrency experienced a significant price downturn. This market volatility has led several companies in the sector, including Nasdaq-listed Strategy, previously the largest corporate holder of bitcoin, to liquidate their holdings.
