Man Utd Shake-Up: Sir Dave Brailsford Steps Down From Director Role
Manchester United, a prominent Premier League club, has officially confirmed that Sir Dave Brailsford is no longer serving as a director. The 62-year-old had been a pivotal figure during the transitional period surrounding Sir Jim Ratcliffe's minority takeover, which was finalized in February 2024. His commitment to the club initially led him to step down from his position as team principal of the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team.
Reports that surfaced last June indicated a planned reduction in Brailsford's role at Manchester United as part of a broader reshuffle within the INEOS group. This adjustment allowed him to resume his duties as director of sport for the wider INEOS conglomerate. The formal cessation of his directorship at the club was confirmed on April 30, according to a document published on Companies House on Thursday, marking the official termination of his role.
Sir Dave Brailsford's appointment as a director was effective from February 19, 2024. During his relatively brief tenure in this capacity, the club's performance presented varying accounts within the provided information. One assertion indicated that in what was described as his only full season with the club, Manchester United concluded in 15th place and suffered a defeat in the Europa League final. Conversely, another statement suggested that United occupied the third position in the Premier League standings, having successfully secured Champions League qualification with three matches still to play.
